[ENG] Cream Biscuits

Another simple yet really awesome recipe from Foodwishes! These biscuits are more on the savory side than the sweet side, flaky on the outside, soft on the inside buttery goodness. And they're so freakin simple to make! In fact, the only step i kinda hate about making this was actually cleaning my work surface for rolling out the dough -.- it's just too troublesome, maybe i should get a nice big wooden chopping board or silicon mat.

Original video recipe from Foodwishes - Cream Biscuits

Ingredients (for 10 biscuits):
2 cups (250 grams) self-raising flour (or 2 cups/250 grams all purpose flour + 1 tbsp baking powder + 1 tsp salt)
1 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) heavy cream
2-3 tbsp butter (melted)

1. Preheat your oven to 500F/260C. Line your baking pan with foil. Melt the butter.

2. Whisk together self-rising flour (i used all purpose flour + baking powder + salt) & sugar.

3. Pour in the heavy cream, mix with a spatula until just combined.

4. Flour your work surface, rolling pin & your hands, take the dough out and form into a rectangular shape using your hands. Using a bench scrapper, fold the dough into third, and flat it out a little bit with your hands. Then roll it to about 1/2 inch thick.

5. Cut into rounds using a round 3-inch cookie cutter (i used round drinking glass that about the same size since i don't have any cookie cutter).

5. Gather the remaining dough and flat it out again to get some more biscuits.

6. Brush them with melted butter, bake them for 10-12 minutes, then brush them again with melted butter generously.
My oven's highest temperature is only 230 C, so it took longer for me to bake them (about 30  minutes total).

So, for the first 20 minutes, i bake them on the middle rack and it turned out like this (see pic below), and they weren't browning enough so i put them back in the oven on the top rack.

After 5 minutes in the top rack. It's browning quite good. I then brushed them generously with melted butter. But when i tasted one of them, i still can taste raw flour in the middle of the bisquit, so i took them back in the oven for another 5 minutes. After another 5 minutes, they finally done! :D

I served it with lemon curd.  But to be completely honest, actually i like to eat it as it is (without the lemon curd) ^^ And i wish i made a cup of tea/coffee, i think it'll be a perfect pairing for breakfast/brunch ;)
